Patient Stories
Patient experiences from all over the world
“Whether it’s the nurses or the doctors, there’s nothing better, and I’m not exaggerating! I had implants placed in my cervical spine, otherwise I would have ended up in a wheelchair. I have been pain-free since the surgery, and I was spared the wheelchair. It’s a condition I never would have dreamed of. I think nothing more needs to be said. Great praise!”
“A truly wonderful clinic, easy to get to and quietly located. Very friendly, empathetic and, above all, qualified staff. For me, it was the perfect choice thanks to the excellent all-round care. I can wholeheartedly recommend it, especially because here you pay for the quality of the care and not for a prestigious street name!”
“After long struggling with disc problems, I decided together with Mr. Schmitz to have a lumbar disc prosthesis implanted. The result: less pain and a much better quality of life overall. In the end, it was simply a very good decision, and one I wouldn’t have made without Mr. Schmitz.
“In the best hands…
That’s how I felt from the very beginning through to after my lumbar spine surgery at L4/L5/S1. After years of nighttime pain in my lower back, hips and legs, countless therapies, wrong diagnoses and repeated advice against surgery, I finally found this wonderful surgeon, Andreas Schmitz. His detailed explanation before the operation and his empathetic, calm manner in addressing my concerns, along with his equally empathetic anesthetist, Dr. Schlosser, took away my fear of what was, for me, a major procedure. The surgery (anterior approach through the abdomen) took longer than expected, because Dr. Schmitz had to remove and burr out many broken bone fragments so that the titanium plate (S1/L5) and the flexible disc prosthesis (L5/L4) would sit exactly right and hold. His careful, delicate and precise technique proved that to me. The pain afterwards was manageable, though you do need some patience and have to be careful with your movements. Now, three months later, the imaging shows the implants are sitting perfectly and the pain is only minor. I hope that, as would normally be expected in a severe case like mine, I can avoid an additional fusion from the back. It is possible to do everything in one operation, but that would have been too much for my body. What feels very reassuring is knowing that, if I ever have to take this small step, I would once again be in the best hands with Dr. Schmitz and Dr. Schlosser! Thank you!”
